December Punchlist

Staff Retreat and Volunteer Project

Between the general election and the Thanksgiving holiday, our team took some time together outside of the office for our semi-annual staff retreat.

We spent the long weekend camping in Washington County, participating in a wilderness stewardship program with the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA), setting goals for the upcoming year, and enjoying a beautiful, yet cold, desert trip as a team.

Great Salt Lake Summit

Some of our nonprofit friends and partners are putting together a great event — People’s Great Salt Lake Summit — on Saturday, December from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at Westminster College.

The summit will provide a foundational understanding of what’s happening to the Great Salt Lake, how you can get involved, and how we can all work together toward solutions.

As part of the event, you will work in groups to co-create a People’s Plan for Great Salt Lake that will be used during the 2023 legislative session and beyond.

End-of-Year Fundraising

Thank you to our amazing community for your support during our Giving Tuesday campaign! With your help, we exceeded our goal and generously received $10,000 in matching donations.

We’re looking to keep the momentum going as we head into 2023 and the new legislative session where Phase 1 of Prosperity 2030 will be up for a vote.

Your support goes directly to funding the hard work that is needed to pass Utah’s boldest air quality and climate legislation.

Staff Recs

Greg is camping...

"The Swell. I love skiing, but I love the desert more. This is time to be down south. Check it out and enjoy warm days and starry nights around the fire in solitude."

Eli is watching...

"White Lotus, Season 2. I’m still a few episodes behind so no spoilers! It’s awkwardly realistic with some supremely creative character development and a storyline that keeps you wanting more."

Travis is reading...

Training for the Uphill Athlete by Steve House, Scott Johnston, and Kilian Jornet. If you love to play around in the mountains and you want to eat the right things and train the right way, this is the book for you!"

Eliza is reading...

"Okay, I might be late to the game but Ready Player One (the book) by Ernest Cline is SO GOOD. I borrowed it from a friend for the afternoon over Thanksgiving break and couldn’t put it down!"

Bronti is enjoying...

"Liberty Park. Nothing quite like walking around the park and people watching."

David is listening...

"Christmas reggae on Spotify. There are a few different stations to choose from but it’s a great way to mix up the blasé holiday playlist. And, no, I don’t ski at Alta or play hackysack."
